The weather has been so wonderfully amazing here that there have been more outside activities and less of the crafty. I just can't justify staying inside! Don't worry I hear my sewing machine calling me and will be back to posting more crafty ideas soon.
This weekend the hubby helped me take the idea I had for my garden area and make it a reality! We had some issues last year with the gardener literally running over my garden with the mower so I was determined not to let that happen again! Two drop clothes, 12 bags of mulch, 1 40ft strip of edging and a hard working hubby and I have my garden nook!
Here is what it looked like before:
I put plastic drop clothes over the grass. It was a cheap alternative to the more expensive landscape fabric they sell at the home improvement stores. Super easy to put down too. They sell "garden staples" to help pin it down. If you have the time, I would recommend mowing the grass really low before laying down the plastic. The storm clouds were moving in so we skipped that step. It was a good thing too, the rain started as soon as we opened the last bag of mulch.
The hubby installed the plastic edging while I went out and got the mulch. He said it was a good thing I wasn't there because it was much harder than the instructions made it out to be and he wasn't too happy. He did get it in the ground rather quickly and it looks perfect!
Then we dumped 12 bags of mulch on top of the plastic. Since it was Memorial Day weekend it was on sale. Only $2/bag! YAY! I LOVE how it turned out!
So much better don't ya think?!?!?
Looks great!!!
