A Mucking Good Time

Today at exactly 10am eight "Hoosier Dirty Girls" lined up for their first ever Mudathlon. We climbed wet muddy mountains, rope ladders and hauled ourselves over hay bale after hay bale...after hay bale. Most importantly we surprised ourselves by what we were able to accomplish! I had a blast with my girls and I'm already looking forward to next year!

Have a wonderful weekend and stay tuned for the "after" pictures-they are a lot less pink, but the smiles are still there!

4 Things On Friday

1.
This weekend is my first mud run, The Mudathlon.  I'm so excited!!! It's 3 miles of mud and fun! I convinced 7 of my friends to join me. We are the "Hoosier Dirty Girls" and have awesome matching shirts (to be revealed next week). We are so ready to get down and dirty in the mud. I'm giddy with anticipation!

2.

It has been a LONG and rough week with my oldest. LOTS of crying, whining and melt downs, but I think we have turned a corner. I am happy to report, for the moment, our house is drama free!

3.

The weather has been really gross here lately...rainy, humid and downright miserable. The upside? Lots of time for the crafty! I can't wait to share with you all the fun projects I've been working on!

4.

This weekend is the Fishers Freedom Festival. Not only do I get to eat wonderfully yummy fair food (corn dogs, gyros, elephant ears, funnel cake, fried pickles just to name and few) and checkout all the local crafties, but I get to see my dear friend Helen who is coming into town. Helen and my friend Erin have a booth this year so if you are in the area, go check out Lois Pearl and Midtown Chic Boutique

HAPPY FRIDAY!

Pasta With Pesto Cream Sauce

Make this one today!

You won't be disappointed! It comes from my BFF PW (oh how I  her!) and if you already have some of my Fresh Garden Pesto on hand you've got yourself a super quick meal! This was a crowd pleaser with my crowd-kids included! I love that they love pesto!

Ingredients:
Fresh Garden Pesto
1/2 cup Heavy Cream
2 Tablespoons Butter
1/4 cup Grated Parmesan (optional)..Optional??? No way! Not an option!
12 ounces pasta
2 whole tomatoes, diced

Cook pasta until al dente

If you don't have pesto on hand, make the pesto. Set aside

Heat cream and butter in a small saucepan over medium-low heat. Add pesto and stir. Drain pasta and place in serving bowl. Pour pesto cream over the top. Toss to combine.

Add diced tomatoes and toss quickly. Top with grated parmesan cheese. Serve immediately.

This was oh so yummy and just as wonderful the next day. It would also be great with chicken or shrimp added. Despite being a cream sauce it is rather light, probably because it makes a ton! I LOVE having leftovers!

When 3-year-olds Are Left To Their Own Devices

(Don't worry, no children were harmed in the taking of this picture. The "upsetness" is purely because Mommy took her picture while she was stuck in a craft wreath.)

This is the same child a week earlier...you would have thought she would have learned her lesson...
Thanks for checkin' in and fingers crossed she doesn't get herself stuck in anything else this week!

Don't Worry, About a Thing ('cause every little thing gonna be all right)

A few weeks ago I read this book to Lo. In one of the stories, Little Rose is so tired because she is awake all night worrying. Being a good friend, Riley makes her a set of worry dolls. Each night Rose tells her worries to her dolls. The dolls then stay awake worrying so that Rose can sleep. After finishing the book Lo decided that she also needed worry dolls for herself.

This crafty mama was happy to oblige!
I have to say, these were so much fun to make! I had a blast going through my crafty stash coming up with different ideas to make each doll unique. The only thing I needed to buy were the doll pins, after my Jo-ann's coupon they only cost me a few dollars.

Each one is different. I think the ballerina doll might be my favorite. I just love her tiny little tu-tu!
In honor of Lo's love for horses there is a cowgirl doll.
Complete with her own riding boots.
For this doll I used left over fabric from Lo's circle skirt. She loves that she and her doll can match!
You know all about my love of birds so I'm sure it's no surprise that at least one of the dolls is sporting some birdie fabric!
Lo was so sweet and gave this doll to her little sister (Little sisters only need one dolly because they don't have too many worries yet).
Lo was so excited when she got them! At bedtime last night she quietly whispered her worries to each doll, gently tucked them in bed and fell quickly asleep. I guess they worked!

Make Over Your Monday

Happy Monday! How did your fitness/health goals go? As you know I love to run, but when it comes to lifting weights I tend to get a little lazy. My goal is to lift weights three times a week for at least 30 minutes during my training program for my next half marathon in September. I had a rocky start this week, but I'm ready to start fresh today!

This week's challenge is to make time for yourself. I feel that often we spend so much time taking care of everyone else, especially our families, that we forget about ourselves. This week find sometime to decompress, be alone with your own thoughts and clear your mind. You may be surprised how refreshed you feel after just 15 minutes of quite time.

Have a wonderful week and I look forward to hearing about the goals you set for yourself last week.

Happy Father's Day!

Happy Father's Day to all the daddies out there! Especially to my hubby who is the most amazing dad. He's the one that keeps us laughing. He reminds us that being silly is just as important as being serious. He works extremely hard so that I can stay home part-time with the girls. He supports us in anything and everything we do. He is the most wonderful man, father and husband!

Happy Father's Day Daddy! Your three girls love you very much!
